It’s just a couple days before Christmas.  I’m in pretty good shape for Christmas, just a few small things left to get.  The easy stuff that I just haven’t made time for, yet.   I’m having Christmas Eve dinner at my house, along with Christmas Day dinner so there is a bit of planning, shopping, preparing, cleaning, and cooking left to do.

But today I went to Island Lake to walk the trails in the sun and the snow.  It was absolutely beautiful and refreshing!  I was listening to Christmas songs on my mp3 and it worked to put my mind at ease and prepare me for the work to come.  I wasn’t alone on the trails, there were several runners and mountain bikers enjoying them as well.

Do you take time to recover from and prepare for the hectic times in your life?  What works for you?  Have you been to Island Lake?

Geocache Brighton

I’m a Brighton native with a natural desire to see new things.  I drive the back roads, I’ve biked and run hundreds of miles around town and through the state parks, not always staying on the beaten trail.  I didn’t think there was much else for me to learn about my hometown.  Until I started geocaching.   What a great way to explore!

Geocaching is enabled by the www.geocaching.com website that is the hub for the geocaching community.   Here’s the description from their website:

“Geocaching (pronounced geo-cashing) is a worldwide game of hiding and seeking treasure. A geocacher can place a geocache in the world, pinpoint its location using GPS technology and then share the geocache’s existence and location online. Anyone with a GPS device can then try to locate the geocache.”

It’s easy to register and get started.  My plan is to geocache on vacation as a way to explore different areas, but  for now my family and I enjoy searching for the 100′s that are within 20 miles.
